Oxine question need quick answer please!

Quote: The canker treatment may have been too late for your Hamburg if in fact it was canker to begin with. There's a foul odor with canker infected birds. Wet pox (like dry pox) is a virus and not treatable with antibiotics. Birds starve to death due to lesions blocking the esophagus, birds cant swallow food nor drink. The lesions can get into the respiratory tract as well. Wet pox lesions in the mouth can be removed but there will be blood. Swabbing the mouth with iodine after removing lesions may give infected birds a chance to swallow feed to prevent starvation.
Fowl pox is mainly spread by mosquitos as you probably already know. Try to eliminate sources of standing water on your property and change out waterers frequently

I would dust him with poultry dust or 5% Sevin Powder and de-worm him *orally* 3-5 days in a row with Safeguard. If he's 1 pound I would give .25ml for 3-5 days, if he's 2 pounds I'd give .5ml for 3-5 days and if he's really thin he should be in a warm room.

OK, I have Safeguard and I can get Sevin dust at the mill. Thanks.

The hen, Miss Cluck Cluck, had horrible odor from her mouth. We did try the iodine, and removing the pus. I didn't tube feed her, but she ate well up until a day or so before she died, and then she died suddenly.

I hope we don't have to go through that again...
