Oyster shell- they all ate it

As stated, if you keep it out there free choice, the novelty will wear off. When I first put it out, all mine were eating it too. Now I never see any of them eating it except the hens that are laying. It won't hurt them anyway, so don't worry about it.
Thank you. Good to know they will stop eating it if they don't need it

I not know if this is good or not ,but I just put some in with there feed from time to time to help them make better egg shells
I think you are supposed to keep it separate so they only eat what they need. They can get too much calcium. Mine are not laying eggs yet...one or two are very close though.

true about the calcium and then yet I have birds that are 2 yrs old and some more that are 1 1/2 yrs and I just add it from time to time like 2 or 3 mo. to keep thing right, but when you go out to the coop and fine a paper thin egg that is a good sign I think that one is low on calcium as far as I know and it is hard to tell what one it is when there are 21 hen :D

I keep it in a separate container, 20180402_093105.jpg , but instructions say you can mix with feed 1/20.

Would love to see more pics of your coop!
Oh thanks. Sorry it took me so long to respond.
I think I have some photos.
This was before my husband had finished the pop door.
It’s 6’ x 10’.
The foundation & floor are concrete.
We got the door for about $45 at a Second Chance building supply store.

Windows (2) were bought new at Lowe’s. They are shed windows.
Also bought the siding and roofing material (plywood & metal roof) at Lowe’s.

Oh I love it!! Great idea with the nesting boxes! Is that waterer worth the price? I was considering one but couldn't bring myself to buy it!

Lucky happy chickens!
