Oyster shell with mixed flock

It won't mold. It is primarily calcium carbonate and comes from the sea. I do find that mine gets a little mushy if it rains on it and the hens don't like it as much then. If in the sun and wet it can get an algae growth if not consumed timely enough. It's pretty cheap so if it does get wet or whatever I dump it in the compost, garden or the chicken run and refill.

Thanks for all the replies.  One other question is about keeping the oyster shells dry?  I have a run that gets pretty wet when it rains hard.  Will it hurt and/or mold up like feed can?  I have had problems with my feeder getting wet but I got a cone type cover that has stopped the feed inside the feeder getting wet.  Do I need to worry about that?

Thanks again,
Joe

I put mine under the coop itself, ours is raised up. This keeps it dry. I would not want it to get wet or moldy.

I feed flock raiser and keep a J feeder(for rabbits) filled with oyster shell hung on the coop wall.

Gotta love flock raiser. Our birds do very well on it. I like how it smells:)

I have no clue, take a half a handful of it and put it with some water in a container and see what happens, I wouldn't think it would hurt it.

Oyster shell comes from oysters. Oysters live in the ocean. If water ruined oyster shell, the ocean'd be full of nekkid oysters!

We don't need any X-rated Oysters running around
