Hey! I have a question. My chicks are too young for oyster shell (read that the high amounts of calcium can cause bone problems). What can I give them that gives the amount of grit they need without harming them?

I buy the bags of grit made for chicks but you could give them sand or I think I read on here someone gave theirs bird grit from the pet store.

i just mix a handful of play sand into their food. They get starter/grower with 1 cup of black sunflower seeds and 1 handful of sand all mixed together. They also get veges/fruit off cuts from the kitchen as well as breads etc. They will also be getting grit off the ground in their run.

we have chick grit, and just take a little bit of that and mix it good with there food
