I use layers feed and offer oyster shell separately and a five pound bag lasts around eleven months for five hens. . GC

You put oyster shell in there feed? It should be offered in a separate container, they will eat it, if they need it.

Oh mine just eat everything they no when they need it or if they do

Have the oyster shell in a separate container; you don't want anyone eating more than they need.
