oyster shells? when how

Just put it free choice in a small feeder on the side when they reach laying age and they will eat when they need it.

I was amazed at how much oyster shell they eat. I have 2 cups attached to wire in pen and coop and fill frequently.

If pullets are free range all day (4 acres) and have layer feed in the coop (free access) do they need the oyster shell?

like silkiechicken said,

We put our oyster shell in a feeder dish. The grit is in another. We just make sure it is not empty. We have 20 birds, the oldest are 2+ years old. We have just opened the 3rd bag of oyster shell, so it isn't very expensive to provide it.
