Oyster shells?

You can put it out now. They'll nibble on it, mostly out of curiosity, but they seem to know when they really start to need it and then the girls will take it more regularly.

In the future, you can save yourself some grief and money by feeding the entire flock either an All Flock or Grower. My mixed flock of chicks, roos, and layers thrived on it, and with the oyster shell supplement I had no issues whatsoever! Can't feed 'em separately anyway - they'll never stay out of each other's food if they are kept together! Good luck!

I use all flock with my f-range flock because of the multi rooster population in the pack.
The nesting boxes for the free girls are up high. When they flap up and do their good deed for the day, a small hanging feeder tray has a little crushed oyster shell in them. As they are up there they take a smidge.
It is up high and away from the boys on the ground.
It is rare for my f-range boys to follow their female followers up to the box. They usually hang out ground level and wait patiently for he feather mate to finish her deed. All flock grower is down there to give him something to do while he is in the waiting room stage.
My egg house flock has both egg maker grain and shell on the site.
