ozone to sterilize an incubator?

Has anyone here read or heard of using ozone to sterilize an incubator? I have some older air purifiers that put out ozone and was thinking that it might help to sterilize my hovabators with that, in a small closed space in another room...

Well, you could just as easily use bleach or something. ozone might poison the chicks if left in too long, since it binds to lungs like Oxygen does but doesnt get processed. It just clogs the lungs. I'd stick with traditional methods, but that's just me

I think they ment between hatches...... I would think it would work. I know it is used for that in other aplication. Dont think an air purifier would put out enough to do the job.

Yes, I meant In Between Hatches!!!
I have bleached my bator but have only hatched three chicks so far in a month. They keep quitting, getting red rings, one week or ten days into it, WHEW! Smells, I almost think I need to throw it away, but I have an ozone making purifier, and I think it makes a LOT of ozone, because they were recalled by the FDA a couple years ago because of hazardous levels of ozone in a 2400 sq foot house, so I'm thinking if I put it in a cardboard box, turned off the auto sensor switch, and let it just generate ozone I could run a small fan in there to really circulate the air, say, blow dryer with no heat, and leave it there over night it might kill whatever is messing up my hatches. Bleach has not killed it.

Very hot water and vinegar are good at taking out smells. I mixed in some baking soda as well to the vinegar and water and used it in an icebox we had, that I could not get the smell out of after dh left worms in it after he went fishing one time. It really reeked! I tried bleach and it didn't work. I let it sit half the day and soaked the lid in the vinegar mix as well. I don't know if it would kill the all the bacteria totally but it works great to get the smells out. It works good to get the food smells out of your microwave too --like after you cooked too much mexican food in there or something like we always do lol.

I'm not sure about ozone but as mentioned vinegar and water are great! I use vinegar and water then rinse , spray with a super diluted bleach and rinse. Air dry. Clears up smell, apperance, and bacterias.

We use 10 to 1 bleach water to kill everything. I think ozone would work but not better than the bleach.
