Pacific Northwest enjoying some long awaited sunshine and of course some physical distancing

Hi Jen! Welcome to BYC!
It's very easy to mistake the umbilical cord for dried poo, I've done it myself a time or two. (Antibiotic ointment has been a real lifesaver!) They seem to heal up quickly. How's your chick doing today? :)
Hi!
Thanks for asking and for the reassurance. She seems to be doing fine. I've been putting some neosporin on it a couple times a day and trying to keep it clean from poop (hard as it's right below her vent). I have her separated from the others - in a clear small tote - so they see each other...I was worried as I saw a couple of the others try and peck at her little bulge - so didn't want that to get too out of hand. I had read somewhere that as they feather out - it will heal/get covered up? Right now it just appears as this dark red little bulge - about the size of a small pea. Does this sound alright/familiar to you?
