Pacific Northwest Poultry Association double show, Salem, OR Oct 13-14, 2012

We're finally home, and relaxing for an hour before we unload the birds, etc... We had a great time! Of course, kicking booty on champion row helped! LOL One of my teeny tiny 4-H boys brought home 6 ribbons I think for ONE of his ducks! He won Champion Waterfowl in both shows with his black East Indie cockerel that he bred himself. It was so great!!

Another of my 4-H kids won Reserve Featherleg in both shows with two different buff Brahmas too. And my son got his Showgirl cockerel evaluated by Sheryl Butler, with GREAT reviews!

It was great to see most of our chicken friends, and meet some new ones, missed some others. All in all, a fantastic weekend! :)
How did Sheryl Butler do?....I love that lady she is so good to the kids!

Since I had to sell my Doms and other LF birds due to a noise complaint, which is my second strike with animal control over something stupid and petty, first was when my hen escaped and was in the same neighbor's yard(just in his yard, not doing damage) I went to the show to get a few bantams to replace the Doms. The sale area was really amazing! It was pretty overwhelming, actually, bbut I found the birds that really wanted! Also, guess who was the winner of the turkeys in the breeder's raffle!!!

Pulled in the driveway at 10:05 and unloaded everyone. Got to bed at 11:45.....

Not a fun ride home, forgot a bird and hit road debris on the highway. Trailer needs a new fender again.

Thanks Jeanine for picking up my baby. I doubt she'll want to take another "road trip".

On the bright side though, I won Champion of Show in both shows with my sebastopol gander.

Gorgeous! I heard about him yesterday at our state fair! Congrats!

I need to talk to you about 4H Lane county does not have 4h due to no extention office .
Talk to whoever runs the Lane Co fair...also, you can do 4-H in any county, not just the one you live in... ;)

Not true, at least in WA. I would double check that. In WA if a county looses its Extension Office, including 4-H, then clubs/families can not migrate to another county. Our statewide policy states this. Basically it means that if one county decides to not have Extension then another county should not have to take on the financial burden of volunteers or youth from another county. I work for WSU Extension 4-H and this has been pounded into our brains every time it is budget renewal time. Extension is not a mandated program and therefore expendable. If your county commissioners are trying to cut Extension in budget cuts, speak loud, speak often, and let the kids speak too!
Sorry, little bit of a soap box. We have almost lost 4 counties over the last 5 years. We still have Extension in all 39 WA counties!!!
