packing crate brooder

I salvaged this crate and added the lid doors. The box is 30"x36". It is a good size for my 9 3-4 week old welsummers.

That is an awesome brooder. So much fancier than mine...gee I see one of you is from Indiana..hm.... I need to "borrow" that for about 8 weeks..lol. Maybe I will be that fancy when I start regularly doing this. I think mine is ok for a first time mommy. Still am trying to talk the hubby into knowing this is a good choice to raise chickens.

I put mine in a chicken hutch for 2 weeks then moved them into my packing crate brooder. 48" x 60", linoleum on the skid top with wood chips, with plastic sheeting underneath and as a draft guard/ poo kick plate. Just finished it Monday night.
