Packing on the nesting material? Just for fun video.

My EE, Fiona Patsy is hilarious in her antics… but I think this one is probably rooted somewhere in natural behaviour - but why? She’s not my only hen to do this, after laying, she will start pulling up her nesting box (excelsior) material and piling it on her back. ?? At first, I was thinking maybe this was to hide your special little nesting spot? But then why get out and sing a loud egg song to let your sisters know that it’s their turn in the nesting box? So why do hens do this? Anyhow, these ladies always have something entertaining going on Love a good coop cam!

I have a Rhode Island Red which does that, just a few beakfuls tossed over her shoulder.
