Packing Peanuts from Ideal today...what do yours look like?

Ordered some pullets from Ideal. Got 6 packing peanuts.

What breed do you think they are?

They were hatched on Tues.

Those are adorable packing peanuts! Now, this is just a guess, maybe RIR and BR's?

Probably RIR, also probably roos. That's usually what Ideal ships as extras.

That is sort of what I was thinking, except for the dark color feet on the black ones....

How did you make the green markings on their heads?

"Packing Peanuts" are extra males that a lot of hatcheries put in the box for warmth when the order is small. I ordered 10 pullets, so there was 6 extra males added.

The "green marks" were done at the hatchery so I would know which were packing peanuts and not the pullets I ordered.

I wanted to mark one of my baby chicks recently and really, really didn't want to use leg bands, so... I had a can of temporary haircolor spray (from Halloween) that I sprayed on a Q-tip and used to mark the top of his/her head. It stayed on longer than I thought it would, but definitely had to be re-applied.
