So it was obvious who was our packing peanuts when we first got our chicks. They will be 5 weeks on Monday and we are noticing that there is quite the difference between them. They all looked the same when we got them, nice yellow color and going by what someone else got, it look like we got Buff Orpintons. Some of obvious roos, but there are a few that don't look like roos at all. So I am wondering, maybe they are different breeds? Or maybe we got some pullets mixed in with our packing peanuts?
These are some pics of one that looks like a roo, they seem to be much more scraggly, still have a decent amount of fluff and funky feathers.
and the other ones seem to have feathered in much nicer, and don't have as obvious combs and wattles that are pretty pale
so thoughts? I know our red sex links have matured at a different rate, one has pretty red comb and wattles at 16 weeks but the others are very slowly following behind. But with there being such a distinct difference between them? We got 7 packing peanuts and out of that 7 it looks like 3 of them are pullets, or at least don't have the comb/wattles
