Heck, I didn't know there were any Pagans on this forum. Silly me, I've been hangs out in the wrong neighborhood here.

I’m kind of a Wiccan Non-Practicing. I was more active in college, funny how that happens. Since, much of the Xmas traditions are rather Pagan anyway, I tend to focus on the non-Christian aspects of the holiday and pay special attention to the Solstice. For example, we might exchange gifts on the Solstice or just simply that the time to watch the sunrise.

In regards to how I got to my beliefs, it was natural and accidental. I was Catholic Non-Practicing when I returned to college (grew up Catholic). I tried to make Christianity work early on but, it wasn't adding up as I got older. Somehow I happened along what was described as "Earth Religions" and everything clicked. I'm Non-Practicing now because I was looking more for a belief system. I found that in Paganism but, I can't seem to find the time or energy for all of the Wiccan ceremony; the Sabbath rituals, practicing magik, etc. For me, I just need to commune with the Goddess and God and I'm happy

Christmas is celebrated for the birth of Christ in the wrong month. And I love tons of paper and ribbons and kids squealing at gifts they will never play with. And I give noisy gifts to my siblings.

I think religion gives people hope, whether it's legit or not. If you prove to the world there is no God or Heaven, most people would have nothing to look forward to in the "afterlife". I believe in spirits, but not in the same way as the "religious" ones.

But you get a minus for no recipes. I mean REALLY??

Ok why am I on your awesome people list. Because I know where traditions come from?

Because you're religious, (I assume) but at least study things, such as, yes, the fact that a lot of religions are based on others. I'm really not a fan of bible-thumpers, but really open minded people are just what the world needs.

I don't have any because for the time I practiced "pagan" things, we never did anything serious enough to, say, eat traditional food. And honestly, a lot of European food decends from pagan festivals anyway, so, I guess count that in.

"Religious ones" and the ones I have issues with. I am a Christian. I know my God well. I am me because He made me. I choose not to hide who I really am I because of that. "religious" people have let me down time after time, and I am here to tell you that the ones that have helped me the most are a combo of Christians not in church, pagans, athiests, etc. I am not choosy with my friends. I love you and you love me back and we are good.

There has never been any proof that Jesus was born on December 25.
Matter of fact, there is much proof that Jesus was not born on that day.
Born in summer or early fall. Just as the storybook stable scene is depicted
as a little wooden shelter. Reality tells us the place of His birth was a cave.
That animals of that time and place were kept in a cave.

Then why do we celebrate December 25 as Jesus's birthday? Is that just a
handy day on the calendar? December 25 was first celebrated as a pagan
holiday, as the birthday of the sun.

I hate Christmas as it is today. And I'm a Christian. But somewhere along the
path, we've lost our way. We've lost sight of the reason.

Christmas today is about the presents, the commercialism. It's all about business.
I hate buying gifts this time of year. To the extent that I just won't hardly do it.
Not even for my wife. If she wants it under the tree, she better go get it herself for
the most part. Eleven months of the year I'll buy her anything she wants, the day
she wants it. But I do not support Christmas for the sake of commercialism. Even
to Christmas cards...my wife does it. For me to send a card personally...it's somebody
that means the world to me. And that's a real short list.

I love my family. Love them with a passion. Even those oddball cousins that everybody
has. They're my family and it's a funny thing...I love them 365 days a year. And we get
together throughout the year. Because we are family.

I can worship my God everyday not once a year. I can? No...I DO worship God everyday
of my life. My choice.

Knew a preacher once who told me something I'll never forget..."It's not how high you
jump on Sunday. It's how you walk when your feet hit the ground."

And when my feet hit the ground Christmas morning, I'm going to love Jesus with all my
heart. Just like I did this morning.

Watched a show on tv about the commercialism of Christmas. It pretty much began in the
50's....really took off in the 60's as there became more of a tv in every home. Commercials,
advertising aimed at the children. Wasn't so much before tv took over. No mass means of
advertising. Familys didn't have the disposable income, credit cards didn't exist.

Now the commercial side of Christmas is out of control. Business doesn't care about you.
They don't care about your family.

There use to be a reason for Christmas...
