I paid for two goats a couple of days ago that were supposed to get disbudded and be registered. The lady wouldn't give me a receipt and said she had to leave for work right after i gave her the money. I usually get a receipt but i was like "well ok but i'll call you to set up a time to come back and get them"(dumb of me). Now the lady won't return my calls or answer her phone. I need to either get my money back or get my goats. I do have the atm receipt from the night i went to get them and i have her address and wrote down the time i paid for them and have her phone # on my caller id and call logs. I know i know i was idiotic by not getting a receipt but what can i do from here? I do have several friends that are lawyers just didn't want to get them involved if i didn't need to. Thanks guys.

Are you serious?

Where were you when the money hand off transcation took place? How do you know this lady? Have you been to her house? What's the details leading up to you giving her the money? If it were me, I would go to the police station and ask them to go with you there for your protection.

Wow... Hope you get your goats or money back. You just want to trust people will do the right thing but sadly it isn't always that way.Maybe the seller is having a family problem or some other unfortunate event that may have stopped them from being able to get back to you? Good luck.

I was at her house when i gave her the money and my wife was there. i posted an ad on craigslist and she called back and told me what she had. She walked around and showed the baby goats to us then i was satisfied with them and gave her the money and said i'll buy them. She said ok then gave me the details of what needed to be done before we came back to pick them up. I called to check on the disbudding and try to get a time to meet but no answer then waited for a day for her to return my message but no call back. I have called and left multiple messages since but still nothing.

Oh, this is not good. How many days have you been trying to contact her? I probably wait one more day but after that, I'm off to the police department. This is bad business.

Its been 3 days. What will the police do though? Its pretty much her word against ours right? I'm so mad.

Well, the reason that I said the police (in my case, the sherriff) is because you need to go to her home to see if she is home and what is going on. If you go alone, the lady can say that you vandalized or destructed her property. At least you will have them as a witness that you didn't do anything. Well that is what I would do? The police are for your protection so that she can't falsely accuse you of anything. Just my 2 cents worth.
