Could be her phone isn't working (like mine right now) or other family drama. I wouldn't involve the police yet - seems a bit drastic. I would start documenting calls and anything else you can remember just in case the police do need to get involved. Something tells me it is just someone being impolite.

But yeah, I think if you've been to her place, try and remove all those assumptions of wrong doing from your head (I get that way too), and just knock on her door and try to remain calm. For all you know a close family member has died or something and had you known all what was going on it would make perfect sense. Lets hope anyway.

Did you ask when all the things that needed to be done would be complete? Quite frankly, she might work all week and plan on taking care of it over the weekend. Three days is NOT a lot of time, especially if she needs to get the vet involved (to debud or other). Also, are the goats weaned? It really sounds like you forgot more than just the receipt, but also to ask WHEN the goats would be available for you to pick up.

If her answering machine is anything like mine, it can be several days before a message shows up, or dh or ds may listen and forget to give me a message, or...

You've been to her home; that says something more than if it was an anonymous transaction. I seriously doubt she was scamming you, but with the attitude you are already showing, if I were her, I would be getting seriously alarmed about you.

I'd get a couple of witnesses and go knock on the ladys door to find out whats going on..be polite.

If the OP didn't ask these questions, the seller also forgot to give him this information. When I sell things to people, they don't have to ask when their eggs or animals will be ready. I give them every detail imagineable. I leave no room for questions, or at least I try. They know the exact day and time their eggs or animals will be ready and how it will be delivered or if they need to pick it up. Sure, she probably has to contact the vet, etc. but still in all, she should have given him details about that. I go above and beyond as far as my small hobby farm business because I want to make sure that I give them excellent customer service. I want to keep my regular customers, gain new customers and have a reputation that continues to allow me to grow and gain customers. I know that all of us have different business practices and this lady is probably just someone who had some goats for sale, so she may not be as detailed as othes. I guess this lady has her own way of doing things.

Can't wait to hear what she says when he finally makes contact.

I agree three days isn't a lot of time, and if you didn't agree on a specific date/time then I might give a couple more days...or better yet go to her house politely as what is going on. She might have had some kind of family emergency and without an agreed upon time and date you left yourself open to this kind of thing. In the long run though, going to her house would be the thing I would do. If you are ignored, then I would go file complaints then.

I don't know the situation either but as others have said the seller may be tied up with personal or work related problems. It could also be a vet delay. Something like a disbudding may not be a high priority. Were there other goats there to be disbudded as well. Could require the vet to stop by and take care of them all at once.

I would think a friendly visit in person would be helpful. You'll be able to tell if she's scamming you or not. Try to get a written reciept from her. If she refuses, you'll know her intentions.

*UPDATE*

Yep. I agree.

This is what i did and where i was. I went out there and asked if i had the right number because i didn't hear back from her and she said that she had gotten the messages but was busy. I was fine with that and asked if she would sign a receipt of payment and an agreement which she did

. The goats are bottle babies and yes they are still nursing. The longer she keeps them the better off they'll be.

Sooooo................

Everything is fine now, she disbudded the bucklings this afternoon and even called to tell me they were ok. She's going to keep them for a couple more days to make sure all is well with them and get their papers and then i will get them.

If i would have got a receipt then, i wouldn't have been so nervous about the deal and her not getting back to me. Although you would like to trust everyone always have a back-up plan.

Lesson learned.
