Helena is very likely eggbound. Her lower abdomen is very full. We gave her a warm bath, but she didn't pass the egg.

Is there anything we can give her for the discomfort - aspirin, kids Tylenol?????

Thanks for any assistance you can lend.

I do not believe any of those will help... If she is eggbound then she needs to pass the egg (only that will relieve the pressure)
Try the warm bath .give a crushed TUM and then set her on a steamy towel and hope she passes the egg...

...and between baths she will benefit from resting on a hot water bottle covered with an old towel...the principle is that heat dilates the egg chute...some people offer aspirin in drinking water but the problem with it is that if a shell breaks inside her the thinned blood may cause excessive bleeding...how is she?

Chickenmaven,

Have you put any olive or vegatable oil into her vent? That might also help any egg to slide out easier.

DD put olive oil on her vent. That task was a little too up close & personal for me.

DD is now our "chicken gynocologist."

She is hanging in there, ambling around & eating. She is having some thin poops, but no egg.

It has been a difficult day in the coop. I spent half the morning tending to Helena and the other half rescuing a pullet from the attic of the coop.

As unpleasant as it sounds you can use a gloved finger to try to get some oil inside. If you have a dropper you can lubricate the vent and the dropper and gently insert it a bit and add a little oil that way all around the egg. More warm baths and Pray.
