Just wondering, should I paint the inside of my coop? All the wood is PT except the T1-11 walls. If I am going to paint it has to happen early this week, we hope to have our girls Friday night.

I didn't, and I regret it. Use "porch paint". It is tougher, and goes on thicker. Makes cleaning the coop so much nicer.

I used porch paint and it works FABULOUS!!!

I put a primer first and then 2 coats of the gray porch paint (its not too dark--check out my page). To clean I just use a damp cloth and wipe--dirt comes right off. I also have my roosts 18" away from the wall so never have any poo on the walls or doors. I even put down vinyl flooring which helps the shavings slide right off so its a cinch to clean the entire hen house in minutes!

You know there is a livestock paint that ACE carries. It's made for fences and barns used to house horses, etc, that tend to chew on the wooden surfaces. It comes in limited colors, I think red, green, white and black, but it's non-toxic. I think I may use that myself in my new coop on the floor rather than try vinyl flooring again, which always gets gouged and pulls up over time. If I can't find it, I'll look for the porch paint, which is made for surfaces that get walked on, like exterior floors in porches.

Do I have to worry about that all the wood inside is PT? It is still a little damp, so I guess latex would be best, I would like to get a paint with a primer already mixed in it.

I painted mine with white semigloss latex paint and have never regretted it. It make the inside nice and bright and is very easy to clean the inevitable poop off the walls. It's easy to see where the chicken dust is building up and sweep it off as well. Yes it was a bit more work and expense but it was worth it for me in the end. Good luck with your new chickens.

Got most of the coop painted today, just have to finish painting the doors. I will probably put another coat of paint on the walls and floors, then put it back together. Here are some pics.
