Paint? Polypropelene? Natural?

I'm talking about the inside floors of the coop. My DH and I are having a discussion

on this one. I say go all natural and that if the coop stays dry, as it should, the floor won't rot and he thinks that if I use the deep litter method that the floor will rot.

What's your experience/opinion?

ps. Has anyone used corn cob for under the roost?

We bought a linoleum remnant for under 20 bucks and used that to cover the wood floor in our main coop...

My floor in my coop is unfinished plywood but I use a layer of sand and then hay I've never had a problem. But I don't do the deep litter method either.

I painted mine with a good oil paint so it would be easier to keep clean. Some of those poops are quite runny! Those are the ones that seem to find the patch where there's no shavings! Put linoleum on the back wall behind the roosts. That was the best thing I did!

mine dont' use it very much, but when they do, it's a shed with a dirt floor.

I painted mine with outdoor paint then coverd it with sticky sqaure floor tiles from the dollar store, and then cover the whole thing in pine wood shaveings, seems to work pretty well.

the coop on my property had a wood floor but i decided to lay at tarp down and screw the eyelets down then use bedding on top of that. seems to work well plus easy to clean just shovel out the bedding then take out tarp and hose it down, dry it off then back in the coop w/ some fresh bedding.

There's a seam there. I first used indoor/outdoor tape to try and "seal" it but it began to peel almost immediately. Used silicone afterwards and so far so good.
