I'm still working on my chicken tractor's coop area, and I just about got that area all closed in enough that I can cut the door into the run to let my girls to start using that area to get in out of the rain instead of a barrel that they have been using. Its mostly put together with OSB, and my plan is to cover it all in some old metal siding so that it would match the barn. However, last night my brother offered me some outdoor paint to cover it as well.

I'm just wondering if I should use some of that paint to coat around the edges of the OSB, just to help keep it from getting that much more moisture away from it. And if I do have enough, should I paint the inside of the coops OSB as well. The smooth side of the OSB is on the inside of the coop except for one door hatch I didn't realize I goofed on until I was already done putting it together and I didn't feel like taking it all apart.

The paint is Rustoleum Restore, its a water based concrete and decking paint. its the 10X stuff so its supposed to be thick to cover up cracks and stuff. Its kind of a dark brown color as well.

I need to add some new photos of it, as I'm much further along than this, but to give out a rough idea of what I'm working with.

Access doors in the back, and on the sides as well. on the top of the OSB there, on top of the middle access door, I'm just going to put some hardware cloth and add some roosts up there so they will have plenty of ventilation, and can even look out that way as well, and I think I'll have a roost where they can access the run from up there as well. The floor of the coop/nesting boxes is hardware cloth as well. I plan on putting something over the nesting boxes to keep the girls from pooping and roosting right on top of them.

Anyways, I thought I would toss the question out here to see what everybody else here thought about it.

More pics of the more completed coop.

Hardware cloth would go over this opening here, with roosts on the inside of it to allow the girls to look out that viewing area.

I just spent a good ten minutes picking June bugs that had collected on the hardwire cloth trying to get at the light from this cheapo solar light deal I installed inside of the run. My girls are going to love em as long as they're not stuffed from some of the other ones they find in the morning in the run.
