you can get empty pait shells and fill them with whatever you like. Powdered wasabi is a good choice for painful experience inducement. you can also get them filled with clear paint which makes the target just wet instead of painted.
However, as to the gun in question. Tippman 98 is a great marker, very reliable, very tough easy to work on and easy to get upgrades for. it is farily accurate to about 25 yards right out of the box and with the right barrel/feed system/trigger ect, you can improve that to about 50 yards or more. It's being not rifled, and fireing very irregular balls the balistics on paintballs just isn't the greatest in the world. the price for that set of gear is not bad at all. Especially since you can use it as a base to buld pretty much whatever kind of custom marker you want.
I'd have to say that yes, this is a good deal.
