We’re working on cleaning out and prepping a shed for our chicken coop. I’d like to paint the interior With some of the paint that we have. We have lots of acrylic based trim paint, some deck paint, and interior home paint. Would any of those work for inside the coop?

I would stick to using any exterior grade paint. It needs to be able to flex with the temperature swings it will see or it will start peeling.

I’d say it depends on how often you’re planning on repainting it. I used just a basic interior latex paint because it’s what I had on hand and my primary focus was to get a layer of something over the bare untreated wood that I used to build the coop. With that being said, I’ve already noticed some spots where the ladies have been pecking and doing other random acts of chicken that will need to be touched up soon.

I painted the interior of my coop with a bunch of different paints I found in our shed from the previous owners. Interior and exterior, different brands, sheens, colors and ages of paint. Basically used it as 3 coats of primer base and went over it with semigloss white interior enamel paint I had. Seems to be holding up.

I don’t mind touching it up every so often. I’m not sure how much exterior paint I have but I can check. There was a ton left here by the previous owners and a lot of variety. They left a first coat of something that seemed to be holding up well, but definitely not a thorough paint job.

Go to Home Depot and check the "Oops" section. There may be something there you can use. It is always deeply discounted.
