Yes, I do want to protect the wood the best I am able. Thanks for all the replies! I’ll try a piece of cardboard and embrace the texture

Ah--I misunderstood and thought it was purely aesthetic. I'm lucky that my whole build is pretty well covered and we don't have to worry about moisture being an issue.

No worries, I didn’t exactly specify. It has a roof but there is some rain splatter that comes in. I also want to put something up to help that too.
