Painting inside of coop - can i mix paint and primer and save a step?

I did a couple of coats of kilz straight up then topped it off with an exterior grade latex myself.

My thoughts were more work now, less work later.

I think Kilz is a better primer for this kind of stuff anyway, so I wouldn't worry that you wasted work or paint.
