Painting interior of coop

Looks Great!
Did you get the soffits open?

Thank you! The soffits are open on the one side without windows. We‘re planning to leave the windows cracked open and the there‘s two large vents at the top of the east and west walls. It seems to be very well ventilated but would it be better to have all 4 sides soffits should be opened as well?

Soffits would be better, IMO.
Just on both eaves(where gutters would go)...
...gable vents take care of the gable ends.
Fascia will help temper winter winds.

Very nice! Glad about it being lead free too.
Hardware cloth over all the window openings, very well secured, agree about soffit and gable end ventilation, which can be open all year.
Also hardware cloth over the window on the door.
Light bulb protection of some sort; birds will fly into them. All wiring in conduit, and GFI outlets. Consider having a licensed electrician do it all,or at least inspect it and pass on it, worth the peace of mind, and may make your insurance company happier too.
Have outlets for extra stuff like heater waterer bases in winter!

I think that my old coop would melt if I tried to wash the interior, especially with a power washer! Just vacuum it off, wipe gently, and then stain, whitewash, or paint it. That peeling paint is the biggest problem you have there.
DE is not a good thing to use! It's nearly ineffective, and inhaling the dust is bad for us, and for the chickens.

I use DE for 5 years now. Never had a dead chicken or any health problems exept for one chicken who had a dirty ass (diarrhea) for a few weeks. Never had a mite infestation or lice problem after using it.

I don't use use pure DE to let them bath in but add a few spoons to the sand. And use it to ‘paint’ the inside of the coop.

So I wonder. Had any of you a sick or a dead chicken with respiratory problems after using DE as described? Because I find that hard to believe.

I wonder wat soffits and fascia are?

Good call about the light bulb protection, wiring and outlets. They’re hanging up now securely so that will be our next step. Thankfully hubby is a licensed electrician and even has some spare equipment we can use for it! The chickens spent their first full day outside yesterday and were totally loving the run and nice warm weather. We laid down their bedding and set up a temporary roost and poop board for them in the coop and the first night was a success. Back at it today! Thanks again for all the help.
