Painting the interior??

Is it ok to paint the interior of my new coop. It has hardboard on the interior and I would like to paint it to seal it and also lighten up the interior. A friend told me chickens will eat the paint, but I think it is ok, if it is a fresh dried coat. Any thoughts?

Yes, Paint! Absolutely do! It makes clean-up so much easier. As long as the paint is applied properly and not flaking or peeling, the chickens won't bother it.
