A pair of African gray geese have been together for 4 years. Not sure of sex. I added two new babies last spring, m/f. They partner off and were excepted by the older pair. About a week ago the old guy started shunning his partner and now we have a 3 and 1 grouping. Today, they locked head, battered wings, bumped chest in what I thought was a fight to the finish. I was able to separate them and lock one up in kennel pen. I'm guessing it is a mating issue, but will the older two kill each other? Should I keep them separated for a while?

I had two gander fighting for dominance over the female.
Solved that as I processed one and sold one as I had three ganders to one goose.

It does sound like a mating issue. Perhaps the 2 older ones were both male, and now that there's a female in the bunch, there's something to fight over. You might have to keep them separeted until breeding season is over unfortunately. It's going to be lonely for that single, older male

Maybe you'll add another female down the road?
