A pair of African gray geese have been together for 4 years. Not sure of sex. I added two new babies last spring, m/f. They partner off and were excepted by the older pair. About a week ago the old guy started shunning his partner and now we have a 3 and 1 grouping. Today, they locked head, battered wings, bumped chest in what I thought was a fight to the finish. I was able to separate them and lock one up in kennel pen. I'm guessing it is a mating issue, but will the older two kill each other? Should I keep them separated for a while?
