hi, I have two well summers and one Sussex,

Have just come back from vacation and girls have stopped laying and looking poorly and not laying

We thought they were starting there first malt before we left.

Went to let girls out this morning and the Sussex and one of the wellsommer girls combs had gone pale pink and crackly and she's looking sore around edges.

The Sussex girl also had diarrhoea.

Was due to start a course of worming this month , should I proceed or could this be something else?

Any help would be appreciated , thank you !

Molt is a good time to worm. I was thinking about it for my flock.

It's possible the pale, dry comb is associated with molting. Mine are all heavily molting at present, and their combs are pale and dry and a few mope around, acting under the weather.

Thanks for your reply, have just found some red mites in the coop , have killed the mites with spray and have cleaned out coop and DE'd the place .

Gonna try and get some DE on the girls tomorrow. They're not the easiest to catch but I need to have a good look at them.

The mites > anaemia > no eggs > diarrhoea seems to make sense (could account for loss of feathers and bald heads)
