I have a chicken that I noticed a couple of days ago was standing alone and would stretch her neck out and up like she was trying to swallow something. She had a watery crop and when I was feeling it, fluid came out of her mouth. Her breast was pretty small as well. I have had a bird with a crop issue before and figured that was what this was.

I gave her yogurt and olive oil. I also gave her medicine for gape worm because she kept stretching her neck. I figured continuing the yogurt and oil couldn't hurt one way or another. I also noticed that the region of her crop and throat there is a gurgling sound, like a persons stomach would do if they were hungry.

After continuing this treatment the gaping and stretching of the neck has went down a whole lot. I didn't see her doing it near what I was. She also isn't making growling or gurgling sounds. BUT her face and comb has turned a pale pale white color.

I have tried to get her to eat scrambled eggs and one day I will go out there and she'll eat some and then some days she refuses to. She will go after food when the other birds do and she makes an effort to stand in water. There looks to be like a runny poo on her tail feathers but with it so hot and them going through water the way they do I thought it was attributed to that. She now will still have fluid dribble out of her mouth but not like before but her crop will either be filled with a watery liquid or empty.

What worries me most is the pale face. I cannot figure out what its about? As I understand it, if her crop and face turned purple then that would be a lack of oxygen. What is a real pale face about? Should I put her on an antibiotic and work at her eating some more and just see what happens or...?

Ahha, I found some information that a pale comb means they are not laying which would make sense since she is sick. Hmmm, off to do more research...
