We have a small flock of 9 bantams. Yesterday, one of them appeared with a very pale peach coloured face, wattles and comb. She has been pale before when broody but not like this.
Today, she is not herself. She spent a lot of time in the egg box with a broody hen, when she did come out she didn’t run around. She ate some scrambled egg and pecked a bit at the pellets. I also added poultry tonic to the water but didn’t see her drink that.
I checked in after they went in for bed, and she’s sitting on the coop floor not on the perch, so I’m concerned she is on the way out, and I’m not sure why.
Her eyes are bright, no discharge around her nostrils, her breathing was fine.
She was puffed up and keeping sheltered when out today. I did notice her pecking her chest a bit. Her crop was not full before bed, she felt quite thin.
No sign of mites, but then I’ve never seen these before so not sure if I’d recognise them, but couldn’t see any signs on her and the coop is plastic which red mite can’t survive in. I dusted her lightly with diatomaceous earth in case and cleaned the coop.
No runny droppings around. They free range in the garden in the day. I’m in the south of England and it’s currently a mild winter.
They have not been wormed but I’ve ordered flubendazole in case it’s worms.
Is there anything else I should do or any ideas what might be the cause might be? I can’t get a vet appointment for 10 days.

I would still look her over for mites moving about on her skin under the vent, belly, wings, and neck. Check her crop first thing in the morning when it should be empty. Try to get her eating some cooked egg and some moistened chicken feed after checking her crop in the morning. Does she normally lay eggs? Is her tail position up or down?
