I heard Lowe has 1/2" hardware cloth on clearance so I called and a sales clerk took what I needed to the service desk (my daughter picked it up for me)I bought enough hardware cloth to cover a 8 x 16 run for less than $50 (50% off) I bought (8) 24" wide x 10 ft lengths

Just my thoughts...

I recently dismantled a 4x8 pallet for the wood. Some of the slats came off easily, some splintered. Getting the nails out was the biggest pain in the butt. I got a lot of pieces of wood, but it was a lot of work.

If I were going to build a coop out of pallets, I'd leave the pallets assembled. Then cover the area between the slats with slats from other pallets. DH just took one apart that was stapled together, and his apart much more easily than mine.

So I think I might put the coop on the side on the run, instead of the end. So they have more space.

If its the same size wouldn’t it take up the same amount of space? but now you would have a narrow bit the you can’t put much in and would be difficult for chickens to get past each other if they fight
