Good afternoon!
I had most of this material lying around the farm. We’re growing quickly (chicken math, y’all know how that works...)
Thought I would share with y’all the finished product.
Each pen is 8x12. 96SF. With enough jungle gym pieces you can fit about 10 standards in here long term. We’re planning on putting in lots of verticals spaces and toys to keep them occupied.
I’ve still got to add the toys and vertical spaces, nesting boxes, and watering stations.
The feeders are recycled PVC.
The only purchase made for this coop was the big tarp over the little tarps. Everything else we already had.
The strings hanging in the pictures are what the drinkers will hang off of. We’re making them out of old Tidy Cats jugs and poultry cups I ordered online last year and never used.
They’re not “pretty” but they’re solid and they keep the birds in. That’s all we need!
Here in Texas we worry more about the heat than we do about the cold, so these open air pens are perfect. This is the third version of this pen on my property. Each one varies just a little.
Sorry I don’t have many in progress photos. I try to get it all done in one day. Exterior wise.
