Palm frond for playing with?

I am trimming back my princess palm (no chemicals or sprays used around it) and I am wondering if putting a frond in for the babies to pick at is a bad idea? Has anyone else tried this? I'm trying to think of new things for the curious little buggers to explore while they are still inside in their little heated pen.

Oh! Also, this is an indoor plant, so it's pest free.
