hahaha! Ask ThaiTurkey about cucarachas in Thailand. When I was poking around in the farmers' market in Chiangmai, I saw things you would not want me to describe. They sell every kind of animal protein known to humankind. I saw buckets of eels, turtles and frogs, tubs of beetle grubs, and a biiiiiig basket of gigantic roaches, live. Their legs were trussed with rubberbands to a long. slender stick. You could buy a "six-pack" of roaches-on-a-stick to take home and roast on your backyard BBQ.

We used to have cucarachas here, but scorpions moved in and ate them! By the way, today I helped clean up a house, by the end of the day I was muttering " no mas cucarachas, no mas no mas!

". I hate those nasty critters!

That's a cockroach.

This is a palmetto bug.

Cockroaches you can step on. DO NOT stomp a palmetto bug.

^ That is a hissing cockaroach.I know this because I grew them for chicken feed-bugs.Hissers dont fly, sting,or bite. They just lumber around.

Palmetto bugs are like cockroaches. They are 3" long, fly and are a nuisence. The are under my patio outside and sometimes at least one bugger gets in per week.We have a very clean house thanks to DW.There isnt any roach nests and/or leavings in any cabinet, nook,or otherwise.

I know I live in the Palmetto state,Onedoodle3....smart butt, but that doesnt mean I have to likes them.

Downsm75: They are just creepy, but with three indoor cats, they get eradicated PDQ.
No, that is a real palmetto bug.

Did you look at the link I included? http://bugguide.net/node/view/33670

Here are a few more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_woods_cockroach

People have been calling any large cockroach species here in the south "palmetto bugs" for about ever, but there really is just one bug that name is specific to. It only takes mashing the right one once or twice to make sure you'll never forget them.

whatever is suppose to be "correct" doesnt really matter thats a PALMETTO BUG..

just like someone saying give me a kleenex as opposed to tissue...who knows if its actually kleenex brand cause its still kleenex.

you call it palmetto bug i call it palmetto bug so thats what its called.

oh and dont you love when your sleeping your night away and a huge rain comes along and when you awake in the morning they are flipped upside down on your floors. if it rains here i know they are coming in the house. my house doesnt have roaches but has plenty of palmetto bugs that are determined to come in my house for a final resting place. if it rains like 2-3 days in a row then i will have atleast 3 every morning on the floors flipped upside down half dead.
