Careful. I lost two hens this summer because they fell in the water bucket and drowned.I use buckets as waterers, the chickens don't roost on them because they'll fall in. I stopped using regular chicken waterers when I realized a bucket from the dollar store lasts longer.
Mine could easily stand in the buckets I use. I have large hens and roosters. I have a bucket with watering cups that the chickens drink from as well. The buckets are more for the ducks, but my larger chickens like to drink from them too. They're buckets from the dollar store, not big buckets like you find at Home Depot or Lowe's. I'd say they might be 3 gallonsCareful. I lost two hens this summer because they fell in the water bucket and drowned. Now I keep the bucket covered and they have to use the nipples.
Also I'm sorry for your lossCareful. I lost two hens this summer because they fell in the water bucket and drowned. Now I keep the bucket covered and they have to use the nipples.

like their chicken breed/gender sorting, the website showed me everything but the item you flagged....I use a 5gal. bucket with those nipple type cups all around. I hang it so its not on the ground. It has a lid that I cut a flap in for easy filling. It hags from the handle to which I have applied 2 thick strips of strong tape on either side of the hook so it doesn't slip sideways. In winter I remove this set up an put this heated waterer up on blocks to prevent their excessive scratching resulting in water filled with dirt and bedding. They can't stand on either setup. The hanging bucket is too wobbly.
