pancreatitis and dogs

Thanks we think Georgie is pretty special. If anything bad happens this week end while Denise our vet is out of town he will go to A&M. No question about it. Dh would be crazy if any thing happen to Georgie or the other 2. We have a 3lbs female Yorkie name Sophi she is 3years old and Matti a 10 year old shu zu (sp) Georgie is 6 years old and about 5lbs. They go just about every where we go. My human kids say the fur kids have gone on better vaction than they did. Told them that's because they are better behaved

What a cutie-pie! My mini schnauzer had pancreatitis twice. The first time I didn't know what it was but when he didn't get off his bed to greet me at the door when I got home from work I rushed him to the vet. The second time I knew immediately what it was. They get a very specific odor and it reeks! They will not want to eat and if they do they vomit. They will walk with their hind end tucked under as they are in pain. It is a dire emergency if your dog gets it - there can be no hesitation in getting them to the vet.
I'm glad your pup is feeling better.

It sure can hit them fast. And yes that smell is like nothing else it more than reeks!! All the stuff on the net says Schnauzers and Yorkies get Pancretitis more than any other breed go figure. His front and back feet were almost touching when he walked he was so bowed up from the pain. Will always watch for that yellow foam vomit, but you will smell it first. Hope we dont have to deal with this for a long time

"little horse" dont think I have seen Dick that wooried before. Saw Paul early thought maybe he was getting home for taking you to Madisonville

Vomiting yellow bile doesn't mean the dog has pancreatitis.

I'm glad to hear he's doing better.

I had a similar experience with my standard poodle, although not pancreatitis. I noticed one morning that Cricket's poop had a greenish tint to it. That was it. He was acting completely normal, was eating, drinking normally, wasn't throwing up, nothing. Completely normal. Went and had him checked anyway. Turned out our neighbor had fed him rat poison. He had to be on vitamin K for a month. My dogs never run loose. We keep them inside, and only let them out in our fenced yard...so the neighbor had come down and fed it to him deliberately. I'm guessing just to get back at me, because I shot his vicious mutt that kept attacking my goats.
