Cinder shook her head. "I hate to sound stupid but I don't. I know how to survive on my own, I have most of my life. I only went places with Brick when it was against the elephants, other then that we never saw each other."
Melody looked at her. "You need to talk about it."
Jem licked him.

"That's why there is only you left,"said the wolf still trudging along.

Sunshine grunted.

Paul smiled.

Cinder looked at him. "What do you mean?"

Melody looked at her. "Sweet heart."
Jem giggled.

The wolf sighed again,he trudged further with no reply for a minute."You are alone because you are not close enough with another group of dogs like you to protect one another through hardship.Once alone you are vulnerable and easy to be caught.We are meant to pack up and help one another no matter what,"he kept trudging they were almost over the mountain.

"No,"said Sunshine she didn't want to talk she didn't want to whisper or yell.She wanted silence,there was not enough of this.They all were so loud and obnoxious silence was needed but yet they wouldn't allow this,she squirmed away from her and ran into some brush hiding.She crouched down in the brush covered and protected by thorny vines over her,she had a couple cuts but if she could just be alone for awhile then they were worth it.

Zander was in the water splashing water over himself trying to clean cuts from the journey and get the dried mud off protecting his skin from insects.The bugs were horrible at night especially covering you from head to toe in little swarms of knats and other flying insects that bit at your flesh.He and everyone was their host but mud kept them off their skin.After washing down well he looked for new mud to roll in.

Paul smiled still but his arm throbbed the fall kept replaying in his mind giving him nightmares.It was terrifying just up on the surface playing in snow then in a cold cavern of ice.He wished he could be more helpful they were so unprotected he could hardly protect them.Also Jem was injured permanently from a freak accident.He laid in the snow thinking on auto-pilot but acting as if he were paying attention.

Raven sighed. She looked around at the elephants. All of them seemed hurt and she was powerless to do anything. She turned away from and disappeared from view. She ran away from them, thinking it would be best if she was gone.

Cinder said nothing. Maybe she didn't want to join a pack after all, maybe it was best if she was on her own. Maybe she could lose the fight so she could be with Brick. She missed Brick more then anything in the world.

Jem stayed positive. She stood on her back legs and looked for any danger. She felt terrible inside. It was her fault Paul was hurt, everything was her fault. She sometimes wish she could go back to when she and Paul first met and start over.

Melody sighed. She watched as Raven left and felt bad. She didn't want Raven to leave but maybe it was for the best. She wasn't hurt to badly by Chloe's death. She had seen death many times. The death of her family, her friends, her foes.

Sunshine didn't see Raven go but when she does find out she will be in worse pain.Everything had been so right at one moment then all just fell into pieces like before was she meant to be alone she had thought.Maybe so,after all she almost died maybe it's her fault Chloe died because she was already suppose to be dead.Yes that was why Chloe had died it was her fault everything was her fault.Everything,she was certain now.

Zander found a small puddle of mud.He grabbed big globs of it smearing it on his rough skin it was warm because of the sun beading down on it.He smeared his whole body in a thick layer then sat in the sun letting it dry on him.He sighed the flies were at his ears he flapped them.They buzzed and kept landing and biting his ear.

The wolf sighed and bounded ahead of her done talking.He went up to Regen and had a few words with him.Regen growled and said,"no,"he then kept trudging along.They reached the top of the mountain and looked at the view.There was a steep hill then just trees lots of them.All ever greens most wolves never saw this side of the ice territory it was small compared to the much larger view of the world.A few wolves stayed behind Cinder.

Paul lied in the snow resting his head he did.There was so little food lately and so many bears to feed,lots would die because of the scarcity of prey.It would lower population in predators but he hoped they wouldn't be some of the starving predators.There was high chance they would be though being they both were injured.

Raven didn't go far from the elephants. She felt a need to stay close.

Melody looked over at Zander then back at the sky. She should have just left Sunshine with Chloe then everything would be ok. She would be dead, yes, but then Chloe and Sunshine would be together.

Cinder looked around them wonder what was next.

Jem looked at Paul. She knew food was short but she would find a way...or die trying.

Sunshine didn't leave the brush.

Zander sat in the sun.

The snow had stopped and the wind was fainter.Regen howled loudly without stop the pack joined in until it was a harmony of howling.

Paul sat up.

Cinder watched and waited.
Melody hummed.
Jem looked at him.

Regen sighed,"all except Cinder approach the clearing of trees down below where you shall face Elspha but first their is some stuff you must know."

Elspha rose her head in the deep abyss of a cave at the sound of faint howls she grinned and said,"Regen has come again hoping he might have found my killer."She laughed and stood bones crushed under her feet of the once living skeletons of wolves.She was old,wise and scarred severely from all the wolves Regen has brought trying to end her out of fear.The wolves just had to last ten minutes in a fight with her but if they ever get a chance they are meant to kill her,once long ago when Regen was young Elspha had been starving and raged killing all his pack but one female wolf.Regen has never forgotten that and waits for the day a wolf comes along that is able to kill her.Elspha walked out of the deep cave and onto the snow the sun beaming on her she slowly walked into the clearing where now all could see her.

Sunshine dozed off.

Paul barfed up everything he had just eaten he had became suddenly ill.
