Panting From Pain / Ever dealt w/serious injuries?

Her poops look normal, but it wouldnt hurt to worm her as Casportpony mentioned. Dosage for wazine is one ounce per gallon of water for 24 hours only. Since you're treating only one bird, make the one gallon mixture and simply draw enough for your hen for 24 hours. It would be best to provide it in the morning just before she wakes up, that's the time when birds are most hungry and thirsty...she'll readily drink the treated water first thing.

Ok. I'll help her consume it if I have to by pipette-ing it into her mouth.

Shouldn't I go ahead and treat the rest of my birds while I'm at it? If the medication doesn't have any real side effects, wouldn't there be no harm in treating everyone?

When in doubt, I worm... but I tend to go about these things more aggressively than most.

That said, I've only used Safeguard in my younger chicks... not sure if Wazine is recommended for use in young birds, please check.

I also have four 8-1/2 week old pullets, 3 RIR and one BO, and two ~6-1/2 week old BR pullets. Should I treat them too for good measure?
You can give wazine to young birds as little as 4 weeks old. It would be a good idea to worm all of them, get it done and over with. Again, one ounce per gallon of water for 24 hours.

Good to know, thanks!

Very Interesting update:

Feisty is 4lb 12oz now. Still panting sometimes, but not as much as that one night. Still kind of limping, definitely not as bad as that one night but not as steady on it as I've seen her.

I fed her this morning (couple hours ago) and was coming in to get some work done/check on her when I found this in her box:

(I took it outside for better light for the camera)

Pretty sure it is an egg. Or tried to be. Definitely not poop, doesn't smell bad, has a very faint smell of egg yolk actually. About an inch long I think. The shell-like part is maybe a mm thick, thicker than your typical egg shell, and it's a little rubbery, almost like soft cooked chicken skin. Inside is very firm but a little squishy, harder than a regular hard boiled yolk. Like the inside of a bean that is very undercooked maybe? It's off-white.

Anyone ever seen THAT before? Is this totally separate from her panting? Is this good, bad, or indifferent? I tried palpating her abdomen behind her legs and she did NOT like that. I guess if her body is starting to make eggs again, that means she's on the mend? Still not eating like she should though...

thanks!
