Panting hard and a broken toe nail,

Hi

Sorry, I was typing and it decided to post this before I finished.

I have a silkie, pullet, who has a broken toe nail that is bleeding. I used some cornstarch hoping to slow the bleeding. She has her mouth open and is panting heavily. Is this because of the broken nail? Did I do right putting cornstarch on it, is there anything else I need to do for her? The nail close to the toe, and is still attached but if you wiggle it it starts bleeding again.
