Panting hurt chick

IDK yesterday morning she was fine then in the afternoon she was hurting, limping and using her wing for balance

Poor chickie! Have you checked her foot out? Any signs of injury? I would separate, make sure she’s warm, drinking water, (adding electrolytes/ chick stress formula), and eating. When one of my chicks had a respiratory I’d add warm water to her food, making a yummy mash to entice her. Injured chickens are like injured people- they need extra love and comfort. I hope she’s alright. Let us know if there’s anything wrong with her foot upon examination ❤️

I've checked it out before I separated her and there nothing i can see. The chicks normally have the water with pro chick in it. Even with food, water and a heating lamp she lays there panting. Sometimes she gets up and moves but limps.

Welcome to BYC. Keep her separated with food and water near her. Offer the food and water several times a day up to her beak. Look for any swelling in the foot or leg, redness, green bruise, or twisting of bones. Look at her footpad on the bottom for any scabs or cuts. Was she vaccinated for Mareks disease? B complex vitamins (not B12) might help if you give her 1/2 tablet daily crushed in her food.

I've looked her over but can't see or feel anything. I've got food and water near her. I don't know if she was vaccinated i got her from a feed store. I'll get some of those vitamins for her and try that.

Let us know how she is getting along after treating with vitamins. You can use chick vitamins, but they need to contain riboflavin. For instance, Poultry NutriDrench does not have any, but Poultry Cell does. B complex human vitamins are easy to use, and cut in two pieces and crush onto food.

Ok thank you! Also since her left foot is also curling i put a bandaid on it to flatten it out

I crushed it and put in her water. How long do you think it'll take before it starts working
