I have 21 - 3 week old chicks in my brooder. I have been using pine shavings. Has anyone used the recycled paper bedding. I have a bag but its pick. It says its safe for birds and is non- toxic. What do you think?

I dont know, but I have no idea what would be wrong with it, unless it is too tiny and they eat it. It will get very very wet with dicklings though.

I always cut newspaper into strips for my chicks. It works fine, except for the sore hands from all that cutting! Someone on here advised me to use a rotary cutter. Great idea, and if you have newspapers anyway, it is free.

But if you want to use the shredded paper, I think it would be fine.
