I was told by someone who raises a lot of chicks, that her fav method was the paper plane method. Its where you make a paper plane, and fly it over your chicks heads. If they duck their girls, if they poke their heads up its a boy.

Has anyone tried/herd of this before?

I got a 6 inch piece of Cooper wire with a cork on one end and rope on the other u hold it over ne animal or human by the string if he swings back and forth its a male if it goes in a circle its a female ....ive tested it on horses dogs cats and people it hasn't been wrong yet !!!

I throw a treat in the air and the first one to catch it is a pullet. I have been right 50% of the time.

I kid. This does sound like one of those things like holding them upside down, dangling a string, etc. 50% margin of error in each case, I say.

Several hatches ago I tried tossing a paper plate to see who ducked. It's hard to watch them all at once and they move so fast, you can't tell who ducked or didn't. After a couple of tries, they all just stood there watching the plate.

Now I just use the wait and see method.
