Parakeet bites?

Do they hurt yes, but nothing compare to cockatiels, or parrots. Now some like macaws can take off a finger

My mom used to let the birds bite she said it didnt hurt . Then one but me and icried like a little baby lol . Them suckers hurt !!!


I used to work at a pet store and i felt the need to take home all the cool looking parakeets and let them fly around my aviary i had at the time with cockatiels and i managed to tame 1 all yellow lutino parakeet down . She was the sweetest bird . I also tamed down one of the larger parakeets . i forgot the name of it .

I've never considered the parakeet bites to be terrible. They may pinch a bit, but its nothing compared to the bite of a larger parrot or even a cockatiel!

I recommend getting the wings clipped. Also, try taming them by feeding them from your hand. Little fruits and veggies work wonders for this!

Some birds are more difficult to tame than others, but most will come around given the right environment. It just takes a lot of time!!

Well, it doesn't seem to be too bad, unless of course if they nail you on a hangnail... Lol. I haven't mucked with the male yet, he doesn't seem as friendly as the female. Maybe if I get her calmed down, he'll realise that I'm not killing her, and he'll survive too. They're both under a year old, but I'm not sure exactly how old they are.
