Parakeet with crusty feet--REMEDY FOUND!!!

I asked someone for advice in the caged-bird section of a high-end pet store and was told to put OLIVE OIL on my parakeet's crusty feet. I did that and saw an almost immediate improvement! Each evening now for the past few days I've been holding Lance (the crusty-footed one) in one hand and using a finger or a Q-tip dipped in a few drops of extra-virgin olive oil to spread a small amount of oil all over his dry skin. I noticed an improvement almost immediately. I will stop doing this when Lance's feet & legs are as smooth as his cage-mate Calypso's.

Thank you all for your imput, I hope this might help someone else with the same issue.

sounds like mites, if it happens again and it might, get ivamex(spelling ) & a qtip, put a drop on the qtip, rub it on the back of the neck ,on his skin, not feathers, where he can't reach, in days he will be all better, ivamex kills all biting pests without hurting the birds, of course the olive oil is also killing the mites, smothering them but they can come back, i raise keets and its funny, one will get the mites but the others don't but just in case i do all of mine that wayso i'm sure another one won't get them.
