One morning my pet bantam girl Tink was dragging her wing but I did not see any injury. On day two she was having difficulty walking and by day three she could not walk and had use of one wing. She was eating and drinking with no issues other than she appeared to be paralyzed. I brought her inside and went to BackYard Chickens for advice. Since she had been fine the days before I eliminated several diseases. I read to check for mold in food, dirt, etc. I found that where Tink had taken a dirt bath a few days before were a few wood logs that had a white mold growing on them. I trashed and moved the wood pile as I read that eating molds might cause this sudden paralyzed effect.

This is what worked to miraculously make Tink better. This took a few months and a lot of time.

Every day I mixed together in a smashed hard boiled egg yolk, two crashed vitamin B12 pills, a pinch of Save-A-Chick electrolyte powder and three drops of Bach Rescue Remedy Stress Relief for Pets. Every other day I added to this mixture a few drops of Vitamin E (not everyday). I would feed her half of this egg yolk mixture in the morning and the other half mid-afternoon. Some days she would only eat this mixture if I hand feed her and sometimes I added a few small pieces of shredded cheese in the mixture. She had available all day long her regular food with a little DE (Diamtomaceous Earth Food Grade) mixed in and mixed in her water was just a little of the Save-A-Chick electrolyte powder, which I changed and mixed fresh every morning. At night I would take the food and water out of her crate. I used a small cat food and water combo stand so Tink would not tip this over and this stand made it easy to move.

I used bedding of large show pine which made it easy to clean her droppings. Since she couldn't move I checked on her frequently to clean her up. I trimmed her back feathers and used warm water to clean her when her poop got on her backside.

I used a small hand towel to prop her up and leaned her against one side of her crate so she would stay up right. Also the pine bedding of about one inch seemed to help her keep up right.

Three to Four times a day I would massage Tinks legs, exercise one leg at a time by moving her leg in a circular motion like the way she would walk and did standing exercises. I would cradle under her body with one hand. The other hand I would place my index finger under one foot and used my thumb to place on top, since she was not able to use any strength to grab my finger on her own, and did 10 circular "exercises" on each of her legs. We then did 10 standing exercises. I cradled under her and with the other hand positioned her legs by holding both feet down on the floor and slowly lowered her body down, then slowly brought her back up to a standing position. She had no strength and was not able to hold herself up, let alone balance. She gradual started using her own strength :)

Since Tink could not scratch, her toe nails and beak grew, so I dedicated a nail file to file her nails and a little on her beak. She seemed happier. I also preened her as she was not able to do this herself. It amazed me at how often the feathers needed the shafts removed! No wonder I see the girls always preening.

The progress was gradual but with time she slowly got the use of both wings, (we exercised them by holding her so she could flap her wings), started gasping my finger when exercising, started to be able to balance while sitting, gained some strength in one leg, then in both legs and started to balance on her own, so a took out the towel that had propped her. When she gained some strength in both legs and started "crawling" and flapping her wings to get around I would cradle her body to a standing position while feeding her the egg mixture, encouraging her to stand. When she was able to "walk" in a crouched position for short little walks, I would hold her up at the base of her tail to help her stand up to walk just a little as an exercise. One morning when I came into her room, she was STANDING in her crate!!!! OMG, I was so happy for her! When she was slowly walking, I started to place her outside a little more each day, in view of the other girls, and placed a cabbage by the fence where Tink and the other girls could reach between the fence to eat. I would place her egg mixture a few feet away and she walked to eat it!

Today we are going on month three. She is walking okay and I put her outside in view of the other girls but she gets tired and is not able be with the other girls yet, but soon. I have stopped feeding her the egg mixture as I slowly deceased the Vitamins in the egg mixture and stopped this egg mixture a week after she started walking okay.

I am continuing to treat all the girls food with DE and water with ACV (apple cider vinegar) as a preventive treatment along the clean bedding/coop.

I really hope this helps you as the information I received from BackYard Chickens truly saved our girl, Tink (Tinkerbell).

BTW, Monistat 3 day treatment ovules has saved our girls lives from sour crop (squishy chest, like a yeast infection). My girls eat long leaves when they fell from the trees or grasses that are sometimes too long and it doesn't breakdown.
Take one ovule out of the plastic cover and cut each into 3 pieces. Give one piece in the morning and one at night. There will be 9 pieces total, which is a 4 1/2 day treatment for one chicken. IT WORKS!!!! The plastic insert applicators I throw away. I donate the itch cream.

Glad to hear yours got better :)
I’m dealing with kind of the same thing with one of my brahmas.
She can stand up but her toes are curled and she can’t walk much. She eats and drinks fine and her poop looks normal.
Here’s a video of her trying to walk
I’ve been giving her 1/2 a vitamin b complex tablet a day and I’ve been feeding her growers mash and scrambled egg.

All my other birds are happy and healthy....
