Hey everyone! I have been on line just learning all I can about my chickens, 14 hens and 1 rooster, and have come across all this info on parasites and freaked out! My gang has been laying for about a month now, very healthy bunch, taking dust baths when it is very hot here in NC and also after it rains and they get wet I see them cleaning themselves like a cat would do.

Sent the post by accident without asking my question, what should I do to prevent parasites from my flock, is there a sure thing?

Moxidectin with praziquantel. Unlike ivermectin, there are few, if any, reports of resistance to moxidectin. It also has a longer half-life. Both moxidectin and praziquantel have a high margin of safety and will take care of most worms and biting mites. Moxidectin taken orally may even kill non-biting feather mites. You need to do two treatments 10-14 days apart. I use Quest Plus.
