Parents of big families...I need GOOD come backs for idiots!

Here's how it happened to me...

You get married and all of a sudden, everyone asks when you are having kids...(especially frustrating when you ARE trying, but don't want anyone to know because it's not working!)

You have your first baby and eveyone asks when you are having another,
since it would be such a shame to have the first grow up without someone to play with...

You have your second baby and everyone asks if you are done having kids...it's great with two, because they can grow up together.

You get pregnant with your third baby, and people start asking if you haven't figured out what causes 'that' yet...or they tell you that there are ways of preventing 'that' from happening again.

We simply told people that we were 'growing' help for the farm! :)

Good luck dealing with the inconsiderate, idiots who think they need to comment in the first place! Good luck, and congrats on the newbie!

I am pg with number 6!! Congrats on number 5!
I loved the 'we have two more seats in our van' come back! I just used that one the other day...but I have a 15 passenger van so I said "we have 6 more seats in our van and if I get that other buckle fixed I have enough room for 7 more!"
I say lots of comments back...after all stupid comments or questions deserve a comment back!!
Are you done? "Nope and I would like to have at least two more so when I end up pg again DON'T act suprised!"
Don't you know what causes that? "Yep! It is my FAVORITE hobby! Can you think of a better one???"

I have said other things too like: "Children are a blessing from God and created in His likeness so perhaps if you do not want to see anymore of God's likeness you should go home and pray about it."

"When YOU start coming over and putting food on my table, washing my laundry, and paying my bills I will ask YOU if I should have anymore!"
I have only used the last two for people who just do not shut up!!

I only have 2 kids but they are nearly 12 years apart. When ever it comes up there is the inevitable comment. I agree with the person who says to just stare at them for a moment, that should get the point across.

Congrats to everyone. I would love 2 more but my youngest has a disability and needs lots of attention, both pregnancies were difficult and my boyfriend would run for the hills

Congratulations! First, last, and always...congratulations!
I was fixin to log off when I saw this thread, just had to read it!
I come from of family of 7 siblings...I always wanted a large family, I have two precious children.
We grew up ministers children...oh, the comments were endless.
Mother just smiled, and said...."God has truly blessed us"
some would say...oh, you have your own choir, sunday school class, band, etc...
Once, we were piled in the pick-up truck...my dad had to have one, even though he was the pastor of a church, we had to have another income, so he farmed, dairy farmed...
There were were piled up...some in the cab, the rest of us in the back...and some little smart alecks at the bank...my dad always like to park right in front! Said, "my goodness...look at all those children...wonder if they could fit anymore in there!"
I spoke up...(I've always had trouble with my tongue)
and said...."well, if it had been a pretty day we'd a brought the whole family!"

Don't let the barbs get to you, enjoy those precious children, and work up pity for those who will never know the joy of a large family.
Again, Congratulations!
