I feed my cage birds gamebird crumble as a vitamin and mineral supplement. It is a good source if protein for chicks and vitamin d3 for birds that live indoors and the super low price helps. I feed parrot pellets too, several brands but it lowers costs to mix it into the diet when you have as many birds as me.

That's such a good idea - for rearing formula for me at least. My cockatiels would probably starve before they ate a chicken crumble/pellet. They do like the coloured parrot crumbles (and everything else) now that they have babies to feed. My galahs also like the coloured over the plain pellets; one refuses to eat the plain ones all together now even though I had fed them to him for years prior to becoming lazy for a bit and giving him seed. He's on a health diet now :p .

I just got all 8 of my budgies eating pellets in the last week, after trying since July when I got most of them. A couple took to them immediately but others would rather have died and I just had to be very harsh about only offering a very small amount of seed in the morning and NOTHING else all day. It took five days of just a few seeds a day for my most stubborn bird, Winter, to try a single pellet. But once they all tried them, they love them now. They're getting them daily for a while to get some better nutrition since as far as i know they've all only had seed before but I will gradually get most of them on about 50% seed and pellets.

Winter lives with my quaker parrot who has to be on very limited seed to prevent obesity with his disabilities so he will be on more pellet and no plain seed at all, but I give them both a couple Nutriberries most days, which are little vitamin-supplemented balls with some seed and some pellets all mushed together.

As far as the gamebird crumble, which is the main thing my quails eat, the finches love it. The budgies dont get too much but finches need a bit more protein and really like the stuff, which is similar to the nutrient profile of finch pellets but a looot cheaper. I wouldn't feed it exclusively though.

Budgies!

So cute! I get wild Kookaburras around my house. I love their song. Does Cocky sing much?

That's awesome!

He does sing but not that often which is good because when he does sing, he's loud!

He only really laughs if you start banging/hammering something, feeding him or if you make the noise to get him to do it. Oh he sometimes starts if the Turacos next to him make their noise too.

Kookaburras usually sing/laugh together in groups - that's why he would do it with noise...

That's kinda sad to see it living in the UK... reminds me of SeaWorld! Watch it don't chew you up one day.
