Hi yall so I got a pair of cockatiels somewhere in march. I bought them for breeding and gave them a breeding box but they never went in it or used it and I see they are not a pair and I'm having trouble pairing them up. They cuddle and give scritches to eachother but they also fight. I think they are male and female since one is very vocal and always singing and is darker with more yellow on the face and the other is lighter with less yellow on face and with markings under the wings and tail. I could be wrong tho so I'll drop down some photos of them. I moved them into a bigger cage and they are happier in the new one but the box is too big for the gate of the cage so I can't use that box but I can buy a round clay pot with a lid and a entrance in a nearby petshop. They were using the same pot thingy for breeding cockatiels. They have a calcium block and also get proper food. Veggies and some millet. I have a dog which does go near them but they are very used to him now and not scared of anymore I could put them somewhere away from the dog too.

If they're colors that can't be visually sexed, and they might be because the one in front looks maybe pied, which is a color you can't visually sex, then you'd want to get a DNA test to confirm whether or not you actually have a pair. If you're in the US, iQBirdTesting is the cheapest place I know to get that done.

Also make sure they're on a proper diet. Some seeds are important for a cockatiel, but they should also be getting pellets, and veggies. An all or mostly seed diet is bad for them.

How old are they? Females should be two years old before you breed them, and males at least 18 months.

Can you share a picture of their cage setup?
